This increased visibility leads people of all ages to not only watch performances, but participate in dance classes. For example, with the success of the ABC show “Dancing With The Stars,” which pairs celebrities and professional ballroom dancers in a competition, ballroom classes attendance across the country has increased.
As Americans participate and begin to admire this art, they need an outlet to share opinions, explore other’s views and learn about dance, from an individual who has studied the art. “Dancing A La Mode” fits that need by analyzing highly visible dance performances, while introducing audiences to alternative choreographers and styles of dance. By allowing viewers the opportunity to explore less visible styles, there is a hope that American spectators will develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of all styles of dance.
